Welcome

Heart, Stone & Story was first cultivated in my life when God began to teach me how to view life and Scripture through the lens of who he is and what he does. The fall of 2023 through the spring of 2024 marked a time that was riddled with doubt, anxiety, and storm . By God’s grace this season did not last long, but it marked a difficult winter season in my heart and mind.

When the summer of 2024 rolled around and the season of postpartum depression faded away, I recognized that just as the summer days were new and fresh so too was the season I was currently in. It was a time of rest and renewal. During this time, I became acutely aware that summer and spring seasons never last forever.

Understanding life cycles pressed me to want to lean into God’s goodness and truth during the easier season. I longed to find hope and rest in God alone that would sustain me the next time trouble came. I wanted confident endurance and a true anchor in God rather than floundering and drowning. Remembering became the key to my Bible study, my life, and my prayers. This remembering was focused on knowing who God is and what he does.

When we allow God to reveal himself to us, he transforms our perception of who he is. When we know who God is, he transforms our lives and worship. It was not long after I began my pursuit of seeing how God reveals himself that a stormy season rolled in. This time instead of a barren winter it was if hurricane season arose.

My approach to this season was different than the last one. My perspective changed because I no longer looked at God through the lens of my circumstances. I had learned to look at life and all of its sunshine and storms through the lens of who God is. My daily worship was transformed and it overflowed into how I interacted with others.

God has continued to cultivate this desire to get to know him first in his Word. He has also given me a desire to share this practice with other women. God implores is people in Deuteronomy 6 to remember that “The LORD our God, the LORD is one” (Deuteronomy 6:4). He continues to instruct the people to love God with every fiber of their beings. As they commit this love and knowledge of God to memory they are to establish rhythms of remembrance in their family and to declare God’s story to their community.

Heart, Stone & Story’s purpose is to help you three areas:

  • Cultivate a daily practice of remembering God
  • Develop consistent rhythms of remembrance
  • Share the unique story that God has given you

We are first called to remember that those who belong to the family of God have one God alone, there is no other but him. We remember this by spending time in the Word, rehearsing the gospel, and allowing it to be written on the tables of our hearts.

Rhythms of remembrance such as times of celebration, reflection, and communion are opportunities to reflection on what God has done in our individual lives. The Bible warns that a people who do not remember what God has done in their pasts will forget. Those who forget are doomed to walk away from God. This pattern has been modled to us in the lives of God’s people in the Old Testament.

Finally, we all have a story. Good stories are meant to be told over and over again. The Bible is the best story ever written because it is true. And because the God of the Bible is your author, you too have a good and important story to tell. Our children, our churches, and our communities need to hear about the God of our lives and the author of our stories.

So, I want to invite you to join me as we discover the beauty of remembering and proclaiming God through our hearts, stones, and stories. Welcome to this journey. I am eager to get to know God and declare his praise together.
